The incident took place around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday on Main Street near Pinehurst Street in Trumbull, said Trumbull Police Capt. Keith Golding.

The Middlebrook School student had run out into the road and into the path of a southbound vehicle as she was trying to catch her school bus that had stopped on Pinehurst Street, Golding said.

She was struck by a vehicle that was traveling on Main Street, as it drove around a Greater Bridgeport Transit bus that had also stopped for passengers at the same location, he added.

Trumbull EMS transported the student to Bridgeport Hospital where she is being treated for a leg injury.

All vehicles and drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation.

No charges have yet been filed, but the investigation continues.
